Enslaving a demon will not remove you of this buff, you can have a demon-pet by your side as long as you do not actually summon it from your hot-bar. Comment by Mirrodin I just used it today 3 September and i noticed that as affliction warlock you don't have a command demon spell, so you can't use any of your demon's abilities, also it sucks that this spell does not affect unstable affliction, corruption and agony.
The only truly useful spell that is affected is the malefic grasp. Comment by Praetextus For those PvP warlocks who are using Grimoire of Sacrifice, and want to have an on demand counterspell, the following macro works. For some reason, when I attempted to just type in Command Demon, the macro did not function, maybe I mistyped it. The macro also works if you still have your felhunter summoned. I would assume this macro would work for any variant of the Command Demon spell, but I specially made this for focus target counterspells in PvP.
This macro will Spell Lock your focus target if one exists. If a focus target does not exist, it will Spell Lock your current target. Reminder: Spell Lock is castable on any target within Line of Sight, degrees from the caster and inside the 40 yard range.
If you place in Spell Lock for the showtooltip the button will grey out and addons such as omniCC will not put a cooldown timer on it, because it is using the spell ID from the felhunter's abilities. Pets use Fel Engery as a resource, which the warlock does not have, which in turn grays it out the button.
The macro still works but you get no cooldown timer. If you chose to use your own icon Id recommend the Spell Lock Icon personally , you will still get the Command Demon tooltip but the cooldown timer and macro still function. Comment by Anger It is interesting to note that the Glyph of Demon Training does indeed buff the pet-spell you gain this way. Unfortunately the only spell that is granted by Grimoire of Sacrifice, that is also buffed by the Glyph, is Seduction.
Since Blizzard implemented a courtesy respawn for pets in fights that involve changing platforms that a pet can't path effectively, your demon WILL respawn on platform change and, thus, cancel out your GoS buff. So you have to sacrifice it again and again. Not that much of a problem, but still a distraction. Comment by Melech Either the tooltip is bugged or this got an invisible buff, the effect lasts for 60 minutes rather than the stated Comment by they really ought to add a glyph that switches the special ability you gain from whichever demon you sacrifice to that demon's other special ability: make it a minor glyph and we could use it for niche encounters.
Comment by Corq For some reason, everytimes I do Madness, this spell fades when jumping between the platforms. Your pet is automatically resurrected from this and you have to cast this spell again. Ive had it happen as well when going from a dungeon to a battleground. Also, flames of Xoroth resurrects your pet immediately will be lit up as if usable. I notice that I don't have an active demon and clicking the flames simply does nothing, but uses it's cooldown. Gets annoying sometimes getting prepared for a boss fight.
Comment by jcrad When you sacrifice your Felhunter or Succubus to receive Spell Lock or Seduction, how do you actually use their gained ability? I do not see them anywhere in my spellbook, except under passive, which I cannot add to my hotbar to cast when I would like to?
Has anyone else had this problem? Reverse Entropy Passive. Internal Combustion Passive. Shadowburn Instant. Demon Skin Passive. Burning Rush Instant. Dark Pact Instant. Inferno Passive.
Fire and Brimstone Passive. Cataclysm 2 sec cast. Darkfury Passive. Mortal Coil Instant. Really hoping pet damage is as normalised as it can be, so we can choose the pet based on it's extra utility as opposed to one doing slightly more damage than the other. Sorry to dig up such an old thread, but it showed up when I was google searching this topic. I'm questioning whether there's an actual dps decrease if you sacrifice a different pet, because my raid's locks have been sacrificing our Voidwalkers for more health gain, and shadow bulwark shield cd.
There is absolutely no gain or loss in DPS sacrificing different pets. If you want a cleanse, take the Imp. If you want an interrupt, sacrifice your puppy. Health CD? Send your Voidwalker back to the void. Succubus gives you nothing worth talking about. Too bad you don't get Whiplash. The developers really missed out on an option there instead of Seduce.
Well, I think of it slightly differently. What do I care about my minion? Of course I'll sacrfice it in order to boost my own power! Hunters bond with their companions. We use ours as disposable tools. But regardless, this tier in the talent tree is the big area where Blizzard failed to meet to their goals for the revamped talents. It seems to be the only tier where each spec has a clear preference although for Demonology the difference between Supremacy and Service is small.
Overall though, only having that be the case for one tier isn't too bad. But I imagine that if Blizzad does feel a need to modify the warlock class further, that tier may be in line for adjustment. The entire talent system is being re-worked for 5. Ghostcrawler said exactly what you said, that choices are too limited. There is a cookie-cutter based spec and that's that.
Find me a PvP Warrior who didn't take 2nd Wind. Affliction can't use anything except Sacrifice due to the DPS difference. It's lame Well, I read some interviews with GC where they said they'd look into some talents - I didn't get the impression that the 'entire' system is being re-worked My impression is that they'll be looking at specific 'tiers' that are mandatory for some classes - like the 'Grimoires' for warlocks although that wasn specifically mentioned.
I think with the exception of that one tier warlocks are a good example of what they're going for. I've been reading your raid guides, and I noticed you're often switching between talents and glyphs based on sepcific fights, which is the type of thing you're looking for some of it was written before the change to Kil'jaedan's Cunning.
And there's always the chance that despite their intentions, they decide they can't touch that tier for 'locks without doing more harm than good. And let's face it - the simplest change would be just to nerf Sacrifice's damage and then buff the pet's damage in return - which would stil leave Demonology where it is.
For raiding however, I feel like that even if they make changes to make Sacrifice equal with the other two - in most cases Sacrifice is going to be the way to go. Please add any available information to this section. Cancel Save. Universal Conquest Wiki.
